Role Overview:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the role in question involves a multifaceted approach to production management, emphasising the importance of health and safety compliance, efficient team management, and proactive engagement in process improvement. The individual will be responsible for overseeing the operation of plant machinery, maintaining high standards of output, and addressing any technical issues swiftly. Additionally, the role requires diligent record-keeping, inventory management, and the fostering of a safe, collaborative work environment. Department Description:

The manufacturing of aircrete (also known as autoclaved aerated concrete or AAC) involves a series of precise steps to create lightweight, insulating building blocks. As a member of the production team at H+H, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of this process. These lightweight, durable, and environmentally friendly building materials are widely used in construction projects. 

As a member of this team, you will contribute to the creation of sustainable, lightweight building materials that enhance construction projects across various industries. The production process involves various key steps including raw material preparation, mixing, cutting, autoclaving, packing and quality control. The Production Department plays a pivotal role in our company’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Production Manager in ensuing that activities are carried out, and monitored,  in accordance with the company’s health and safety requirements and in compliance with relevant health and safety and environmental legislation.
  • Manage a team of Production operatives to ensure that they carry out their work, operating plant and machinery equipment, effectively and safely.
  • Operate plant and machinery equipment, and undertake cleaning activities, as required.
  • Monitor the volume and quality of output to ensure that production metrics are met and to the standards required.
    Propose enhancements to machinery or processes for better efficiency and quality.
  • Address technical issues in the production process promptly.
  • Uphold and enforce rigorous housekeeping standards consistently.
  • Monitor and adjust production equipment settings to maintain required output quality and volume.
  • Monitor staffing levels on production equipment and make changes as necessary in the event of employee absence.
  • Train operators in the production process to ensure that they work efficiently and safely.
  • Keep and maintain accurate records of production as required.
  • Manage raw material inventory to ensure that there are sufficient stocks to meet production requirements.
  • Foster and maintain a safe and healthy work atmosphere with colleagues, practicing safe and responsible behaviours at all times.
  • Ensure that colleagues utilise all machinery in compliance with safety protocols and company policies.
  • To play an active part in initiatives to improve the business, including making suggestions, contributing to improvement projects and supporting new initiatives suggested by your colleagues.
  • Adhere to the company's policies, procedures and protocols, to ensure the highest quality standards for all our products and services.
  • Drive results by setting ambitious goals, measuring progress, and continuously improving.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Possesses a solid secondary education, including Maths and English.
  • Recognised Health and Safety qualification, e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH or NVQ.
  • Entry-level management certification, e.g Level 3 ILM, CMI Team or Leader/Supervisor.
  • Possession of a recognised Lean / Six Sigma qualification (minimum Green Belt).
  • Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experienced in production and manufacturing processes and skilled in handling industrial plant machinery and equipment.
  • Experienced in supervisor or management roles and adept at working collaboratively in a team, adaptable to rotating shift pattern.
