About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Yard Operations, you will be responsible for managing, and controlling of the yard function ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of all loading equipment and staff, safely and profitability. Specifically overseeing the vehicle movements to ensure that all collections for customer deliveries are on time and in full. Another key responsibility will be to maintain accurate stock levels at all times by continuously verifying inventory and space utilisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and control the use of the yard to ensure maximum use of available space and a safe, efficient, and profitable operation that meets customer and business needs at all times. 
  • Oversee the yard operation to ensure that all loads are compliant, safe and vehicle on-site times are within the agreed KPI times.
  • Provide advice to company managers, supervisors and staff on Yard space utilisation, ensuring production is both reported correctly and located in the correct location. 
  • Maintain all necessary records of goods stored and dispatched ensuring physical stock matches with stock reports at all times
  • Liaise daily with the Production Team to ensure that production, customer services and hauler operations are in alignment that there is effective coordination of all operations and that customer requirements are met.
  • Identify and implement projects relating to the use of the yard to enhance continuous improvement on operational effectiveness.
  • Uphold and enforce rigorous housekeeping standards with regards to the yard area and documentation.
     

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:   

  • Possess a higher level qualification, for example, A Level, BTEC, etc.
  • Mid-level management certification, e.g. Level 4/5 ILM, CMI 
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject is desirable.
  • Demonstratable experience in a Yard Management Role.
  • Experience People Manager who leads and inspires teams.
  • Strong Problem Solving Skills
  • Recognised Health and Safety qualification, e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH or NVQ
  • Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Forklift Truck Licence B1 or B2 is desirable.
