Role description:
As a diligent Plant Manager you oversee health and safety protocols, ensuring adherence to legal and company standards for a secure work environment. You are responsible for coordination of production resources, process optimisation, and driving continuous improvement to meet performance targets and boost efficiency. Responsibilities include budget management, cost optimisation without compromising quality, and fostering positive employee relations. You will develop managerial staff and maintain a skilled workforce, with strong cross-departmental communication to support all functions. The goal is to achieve optimal output and quality within budget, enhance production efficiency, and collaborate strategically with various departments to bolster plant performance and achieve business objectives.

Health and Safety:
- Operate and maintain systems to ensure adherence to company policies, product requirements, and legal regulations, including health & safety, environmental, and energy management systems.
- Ensure that all personnel, visitors, and contractors on site adhere to the company’s safety, quality, and environmental policies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and well-organized site environment.
Production
- Coordinate resources, manage and refine processes, and optimise production structures and staffing to ensure uninterrupted production to meet daily/weekly/monthly targets, and enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with engineering to improve plant performance and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement and waste reduction in all site operations by seeking and exploiting opportunities across all activities on the site and throughout the business.
- Support the delivery of standardised work across the site, introducing verification escalation processes.
Budget
- Assist in the development, implementation, and delivery of capital and revenue budgets, performance metrics, and capital applications for the site.
- Manage the production organisational structures and shift patterns to achieve output, quality, and performance goals within set budgets efficiently and cost-effectively.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Time-served, or level 6, apprenticeship with demonstrable natural advancement to a similar senior position
- Management certification, e.g. Level 6/7 ILM, CMI Team or Management/Leadership
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and senior management roles, ideally from a similar 24/7 continuous process plant environment.
- Thorough understanding of Lean principles, evidenced by a proven track record in Lean Six Sigma or Black Belt projects. A qualification in Lean/Six Sigma or a related field is highly desirable.
- IOSH / NEBOSH qualified to certificate level
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g. excel, word)
