Dalesview is an exclusive development of eight luxury homes located in the picturesque village of Clint, Nidderdale, North Yorkshire. The 3, 4 and 5-bedroom houses by Rouse Homes combine traditional-style exteriors which blend in with the area’s existing properties with modern materials and technology for maximum energy efficiency.

The houses are constructed with Solar Grade Celcon Blocks on the inner leaf of the cavity walls which provide a thermal conductivity of just 0.11 W/mK. Solar panels on the roofs will generate the homes’ electricity with heating and hot water provided by air source heat pumps.

Rob Thornton, Site Manager explains why H+H Celcon Blocks Solar Grade were specified for the Dalesview development: “We chose Celcon Blocks Solar Grade for their thermal qualities. We always build with H+H Celcon Blocks and when we visit people who have moved into our homes to check they’re happy with everything they always comment on how lovely and warm the houses are.

“Most of our houses get an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) B rating however, the Dalesview homes with their solar panels and air source heat pumps will achieve an EPC rating of A.”

This is significant as the most recent Government statistics show that only 4% of new dwellings and 0.2% of existing dwellings have EPC A rating, the most efficient in terms of likely fuel costs and carbon dioxide emissions.

Helping to achieve energy efficient homes isn’t the only benefit of building with H+H Celcon Blocks. Their lightweight properties also help speed up the build programme.

Rob comments: “The lightweight nature of Celcon Blocks is a nice benefit as there is less heavy lifting required which makes them popular with the bricklayers. We use the larger 630mm long Plus Blocks which they also like as it means there aren’t as many to lay.

“Another benefit of building with aircrete is that you can cut it with a handsaw rather than having to use a bandsaw. This helps avoid noise issues and creating clouds of dust which is important for us as we’re often building in a residential area.”

Rouse Homes prides itself on building quality homes for its customers and chooses to work with trusted partners such as H+H to achieve this goal.

Rob says: “H+H are a very reliable company to work with, I’ve no complaints whatsoever and neither do any of our other site managers. In fact, during Covid when other sites had closed H+H continued to supply our requirements which meant that we were able to keep working.”

The care and craftsmanship that Rouse Homes put into their houses was recently recognised when they were awarded with a Quality Recognition Award from structural warranty providers, Premier Guarantee National.
